Overview
Rubble is a specialised tool designed for the entertainment industry, providing high-accuracy remote measurement for equipment hoisted to height, such as lighting trusses, stage/set elements, and PA systems.
Hardware and Connectivity
The Device
Each unit features a built-in laser measure and sensors for Pitch, Roll, and Yaw. It includes an integrated screen for local readouts and a physical interface for power, laser control, unit switching, factory reset and screen snapshots.
Hybrid Networking: The system uses a master-slave architecture. A smartphone app connects to a single "Master" Rubble via Bluetooth. This Master unit then communicates with all other "Slave" Rubbles using Long Range radio, allowing for wide-area coverage.
Orientation Intelligence:
To ensure accurate theatrical data (Stage Left/Right, Up/Down Stage), users can define the device’s mounting orientation in the app, allowing the sensors to correctly interpret movement.
Advanced Software Features
The "Shows" Ecosystem:
To manage large numbers of devices, the app allows users to organize Rubbles into "Shows" and sub-categorized "Areas".
Departmental Control:
Areas can be assigned to specific departments (e.g., Lighting, Rigging, Video), ensuring that crew members only see and control the devices relevant to their work.
Targeting & Tolerances:
Users can set specific "Target" angles or distances for any Rubble. The app provides visual feedback (Green/Red) based on whether the device is within a user-defined "Tolerance" range.
Offsets:
Offsets can be set per Rubble to allow for different mounting positions or to match with planned heights.
Remote power control:
Devices can be remotely powered off for power saving.
Cloud Sharing:
Show configurations can be uploaded to the Rubble cloud and shared with other team members via a unique "Share Code".
